NOTEBOOK:
Notebooks should be kept neat and in chronological order from earliest to the present. This syllabus should be placed in the front of the dividers as a reminder of my expectations. Assignments are to be placed behind their corresponding dividers as soon as they are returned to you. Being absent is not an excuse for having missing work.
GRADING POLICY:
Home Learning/Class Assignments 20% of grade
Quizzes 30% of grade
Tests 50% of grade

HOME LEARNING:
Home Learning will be assigned on a DAILY basis. Home Learning may consist of computerized and non-computerized materials. There will be one assignment given for every section that is covered in class. Non-computerized assignments are due in the assignment box immediately after you walk into class. Assignments will be collected from assignment box once attendance is taken. Computerized assignments will be due at 7am the morning of.
NO LATE HOMEWORK WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!
*** In order to get credit for your work,
YOU MUST SHOW ALL OF YOUR WORK AND HIGHLIGHT THE ANSWER.
*** You must write neatly and legibly. If I cannot read it, you will not receive credit.
*** Only loose leaf, filler paper will be accepted. No broken spiral notebook paper!
ABSENCES/SUSPENSIONS:
It is the STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY to find out any work that was missed while they were absent or suspended. Any work that was due on the day that the student was absent must be turned in on the first day that they return. Assignments that were given on the day the student was absent should be turned in the class period following the student’s return to school. Parents are encouraged to request work if a student will be absent from school for an extended amount of time. Any quizzes and/or exams that were missed because of an absence must be made up within 3 class periods upon the student’s return. *** You will only be able to make up work for an EXCUSED absence.***
TARDY POLICY:
Any student that is late will receive a detention unless they come with a pass from the person that made them late.
CLASS RULES:
You are expected to demonstrate maturity and understanding of the purpose for you being here. Any conduct that hinders the learning process of the classroom will be punished by detention, exclusion from class, or “F” in conduct
DISCIPLINE POLICY:
1st Time: Warning
2nd Time: Parent Contact (call home)
3rd Time: Detention
4th Time: Referral
*** Students must serve given detentions by the next class period. Any student who does not serve a detention by the given date will receive a double detention (1 day becomes 2 days). Any student that fails to serve any of the double detentions will receive a referral.
HEADING/ASSIGNMENT FORMAT:
The heading for each assignment should be in the upper right hand corner of each page and must include name, date, and period.
The format for every assignment must be as follows:
- All work must be done in columns. Students are to start with the first problem on the left side on the paper and go down in column form.
- All work must be shown for every problem and the answer must be highlighted. Once a student has reached the bottom of the page, he/she is to make a second column and continue.
- Failure to follow this format will result in no credit being issued for the assignment.
CLASSWORK:
- Classwork will be given each day. Classwork will be graded on completion.
- ALL assignments are to be turned into the assignment box and NOT to the teacher. Classwork assignments MUST be turned into the box before you leave the class.
- ** Late assignments will not be accepted. **
QUIZZES:
- Quizzes will be given at the beginning of every class period. Quizzes will cover the previous lesson. There will be a question and answer session before each quiz.
- Each quiz will be either 5 or 6 questions in length and the student will be allotted 10 minutes to complete.
- The grading scale for all quizzes will be: minus 0 = A, minus 1 =B, minus 2 = C, minus 3 = D, and minus 4-5 = F.
TOPIC TESTS:
Test will be given at the end of each topic. Students will receive at least a one week warning before the test is given.
END OF COURSE EXAM (FSA):
The End of Course exam will be given during the scheduled testing week. A student MUST pass the End of Course exam AND the Algebra 1 class in order to receive credit for Algebra 1. If a student does NOT pass either one, he or she will not receive an Algebra 1 credit until they pass BOTH.
- If a student does NOT pass the End of Course exam BUT passes the Algebra class, he or she will not
receive credit for Algebra 1 until the exam is passed. He or she will NOT need to retake the Algebra
1 class ONLY retake the exam.
- If a student passes the End of Course exam BUT does NOT pass the class, he or she will not receive
credit for Algebra 1 until they pass the class. He or she will NOT need to retake the exam ONLY
retake the class.
- If a student does NOT pass the End of Course exam and does NOT pass the class, he or she
will not receive credit for Algebra 1 until they pass BOTH. He or she will have to retake BOTH the
Algebra 1 class AND the End of Course exam.
GRADING SCALE:
Nine week grades are determined by an average of all work for that grading period. Those that do not meet the requirements to pass this class will be notified as well as ones parents or guardians.
90 – 100 A
80 – 89 B
70 – 79 C
60 – 69 D

- Be prepared for class. Bring supplies to class everyday.
- Be respectful to others and their property.
- Wear your uniform properly.
- Keep the room clean.
- ALL school rules apply in this classroom.

- No electronics are allowed in class. If an electronic is seen out, it will be confiscated.
